Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for small open cut mine equipment operations
- Access, interpret and apply small open cut mine equipment documentation
- Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify hazards and environmental issues, assess the risks and implement control measures in line with workplace policies
- Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities
- Access, interpret and apply geological and survey data required to complete the work activity
- Inspect and prepare work area in coordination with others in line with workplace requirements
- Select required small open cut mine equipment and/or attachments for work activities
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures for small open cut mine equipment, and be prepared for fires, accidents and emergencies
- Coordinate and communicate planned activities with others at the site prior to commencement of work activity
- Operate small open cut mine equipment in line with established requirements to complete work activity
- Carry out prestart and start-up checks in line with workplace procedures
- Identify faults or defects and rectify or report within scope of own responsibility and according to workplace procedures
- Drive and operate equipment using techniques suited to equipment capabilities, site and work conditions, and according to workplace procedures
- Change and operate ancillary attachments to the support equipment in line with manufacturers’ specifications
- Operate support equipment with and without ancillary attachments, within the equipment limitations
- Monitor hazards and risks during operations, and ensure safety of self, other personnel, plant and equipment
- Park up, shut down, secure and carry out post operational inspection of equipment in line with workplace procedures
- Conduct housekeeping activities
